Château Magnol: The Team and AI

With the explosion of digital communication, storytelling and brand content are the must have to help to sell our wines. We are pleased to introduce the new winemaking team and the way they use AI with Chateau Magnol...

The winemaking team at Château Magnol

As many may recall, Chateau Magnol’s previous cellar master Bernard Fulloy retired in 2018. The new team is working hard ever since and we are pleased to take this Assemblage Newsletter to introduce them: In the centre Laurent Prada, B&G Head Winemaker and Director of Vineyards, on Laurent’s left, Alexandre Caffin, Cellar Master Chateau Magnol, and on Laurent’s right, Jean-Bernard Duluc, Vineyard Manager Manager.

Barton & Guestier also teamed up with the French start-up Chouette (which is the French word for “owl” but also synonym to “nice”), which is specialized in precision viticulture and vineyard mapping by drone.
Chouette developed an artificial intelligence software which is a real decision support tool for the Château Magnol winegrowing team, as it is handling disease detection, counting of missing plants as well as analysis of the vigor of the vine. The drone autonomously flies over the vineyard and is capable of performing several very precise analyzes in a single flight. The drone was built to assist the winemaking team, saving time and providing precise data in order to facilitate their knowledge and understanding of their vineyard and thus help to take the right decisions.
The challenge for the Magnol team remains to continue to reduce our impact on nature, and to continue to increase the quality and elegance of the wine.

Château Magnol is certified High Environmental Value Level 3 - and ISO 14001.
