In 2022 many estates made wines that are likely to rank among the best they have ever made.
The top estates appear to be restricting the quantities of wines they release en-primeur; but if you find yourself unable to get an allocation of your favorite classed growth from 2022 don’t worry – shrewd purchasers may well opt to buy wine from those “lesser estates” that have outperformed their usual status.
One less well-known Cru Bourgeois that completely excelled in 2022 was Barton & Guestier's Château Magnol, usually a sound wine at a fair price. This showed exceptional depth and richness married with good freshness and structure. It seems likely to offered below $30 a bottle.
